Diablo Hot Chicken is a Nashville-style hot chicken concept elevated with Mexican chile sauces, founded by three friends in East Austin. More than a food truck, Diablo is built around the idea that heat should be exciting, intentional, and approachable — where flavor leads and spice follows your lead. With a tone that's bold, playful, and a little dangerous, the brand speaks to Austin's street-food culture, late-night cravings, and a generation that likes its food with attitude.

THE OBJECTIVE

Build the complete brand identity for a new hot chicken concept from the ground up — defining its visual language, voice, and personality across every touchpoint. The challenge was to create a system that felt bold and edgy without being intimidating, making heat something approachable and fun. The brand needed to work seamlessly across a food truck wrap, printed menu, packaging, merchandise, social media, and a full set of brand guidelines to ensure consistency as the business grows.

THE SOLUTION

We built a visual world rooted in fire, humor, and confidence. The logotype balances intensity with warmth through smooth, flowing script — bold enough to own a truck, inviting enough to draw you in. A custom brand character, Diablo, adds personality and humanity as the playful face of the brand without pushing the tone too far.

A four-level spice system — Heatless, Mild, Hot, and Diablo — gives customers a clear, visual way to navigate their heat, while the menu follows a simple three-step ordering flow that keeps the experience fast and intuitive. Packaging stays raw and tactile with stamped kraft bags and red sticker seals. Merch was designed to feel wearable and bold on heavyweight cotton tees. A complete social media system ensures the brand shows up with the same energy online as it does on the street.
